West Indies National Cricket Team captain Rovman Powell showcased exceptional effort on the field during the fifth and series-deciding T20I against India National Cricket Team at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill on Sunday, August 13.
Powell denied the No.1 ranked T20I batsman Suryakumar Yadav a six with his fielding effort during the first innings of the match. On the third ball of the 7th over, Jason Holder bowled a slower delivery outside off-stump and Suryakumar Yadav lofted the full delivery down towards long-on.
Initially, it looked like the ball will travel for a six, but that was not the case thanks to Rovman Powell’s terrific effort near the ropes. The West Indies captain moved back from long-on, timed his jump to perfection to catch the ball. He showed good presence of mind as he quickly flicked the ball back, realizing that he was going over the ropes, and saved five runs for his side.

We have been struggling a little – Rovman Powell
Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. The Hardik Pandya-led side decided to stick with the same combination for the series-deciding clash against the Men In Maroon.
West Indies, however, once again made big changes to their playing XI after losing the fourth T20I. Alzarri Joseph replaced Obed McCoy and Roston Chase replaced Odean Smith with the Rovman Powell-led side looking for an extra spin-bowling option in the team.
Speaking at the toss, Powell said that they have been struggling a bit in the ongoing T20I series against India. He elaborated:
“Happy to bowl first. We have been struggling a little. But back-to-back wins put a smile on the faces of our people. I think it is a good surface.
“You just need to have plans for different batters. We just sat down and tried to come up with our best combination. Joseph, our premier bowler is back for McCoy.”
