Veteran Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal opened up about the Hardik Pandya-led team’s narrow loss in the first T20I against the West Indies in the ongoing series. Yuzvendra Chahal said that the West Indies cricket team played better cricket to register a victory in the series opener.

The Men in Blue seemed to be in a good position to chase down the target of 150 runs at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on August 3. However, the visitors lost wickets in quick succession and fell short in the run chase. Chahal picked up two wickets for 24 runs in his three-over spell.

We Still Got Four Matches To Play – Yuzvendra Chahal

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Yuzvendra Chahal expressed hope to bounce back in the remaining four games and seal the series.

“We still got four matches to play. I think we must also give credit to West Indies becasue they played better cricket. We always think that oh you are playing against West Indies, you are going to win 5-0. It’s not true. It is all about who perform better on the given day,” Chahal said.

“We lost by four runs but we played good cricket. We will bounce back in the second match. Last time when I was here in 2019, it was washed out. I have watched a couple of CPL matches but that’s completely different. We will look at the wicket and how it’s going to play,” he added.

The Hardik Pandya-led team will take on the Rovman Powell-led team in the second match at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday, August 6.

It’s Like A Family – Yuzvendra Chahal

The 33-year-old shared his experience of playing under different captains for India, stating that all the captains had a similar vision while leading the team.

“It’s like a family where you have four brothers. Mahi bhai was the eldest, then came Virat bhaiya, then Rohit bhaiya and now Hardik. Equation remains the same. At the ground, we all want to win. They give us freedom as a bowler and Hardik gives that space to the bowlers. There has not been a drastic change,” he added.

Chahal played under MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya. He made his international debut under Dhoni in 2016 and played under Kohli for both Team India and RCB in the IPL. He also played under the leadership of Rohit Sharma in recent years.
