Australia opted to bat first after winning the toss in the second ODI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Indian fielders exhibited lapses during the must-win encounter after losing the first match. Phoebe Litchfield was dropped by Amanjot Kaur early in the innings.

Indian fielders provided Phoebe Litchfield with another lifeline during the eighth over of Australia’s innings. India also missed an opportunity to review a potential LBW decision involving Alyssa Healy in the sixth over, further adding to their challenges in the field.

Pooja Vastrakar secured India’s first breakthrough in the ninth over by uprooting Alyssa Healy’s leg stump with a swift and swinging delivery. Vastrakar celebrated with intensity, delivering a fiery send-off to the Australian wicketkeeper-batter, who misjudged the flick shot.

Alyssa Healy scored just 13 runs off 24 deliveries, hitting two boundaries. Despite the early dismissal, Team India couldn’t take advantage. Ellyse Perry, batting at No.3 position, exhibited a positive approach and formed a significant partnership with Phoebe Litchfield.

Winning In A Test Match Is Always Nice – Anjum Chopra

Anjum Chopra expressed her satisfaction over the recent Test victories of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, emphasizing the significance of success in red-ball cricket. She commended the team’s performance against quality opponents like England and Australia.

“Obviously very pleased, very happy because you know, the success that you get with victories like these encourages the team and the individuals. It’s a nice reward because India, like most other teams in women’s cricket, don’t play a lot of red-ball cricket. So, winning in a Test match is always nice. And even if the victories against England and Australia came in one-dayers, it would not have been any less. Because when you beat quality opposition, it motivates the entire team to continue doing the hard work and become better,” Anjum said.

Was Impressed By Pooja Vastrakar’s Abilities – Anjum Chopra

Anjum Chopra expressed admiration for Pooja Vastrakar’s impressive batting and bowling performances in the Test matches. Chopra expressed delight with Pooja’s evolution into a genuine all-rounder, acknowledging her untapped potential.

“I was very impressed by the way she batted. I was very impressed by the way she bowled too. The application she showed in both the Test matches against England and Australia was commendable. She batted for almost 110-120 balls (126 balls for 47) in that Test against Australia. I don’t think she is accustomed to batting for so long even in the nets. She is truly coming up and realising her potential as a genuine all-rounder. Because she always had that in her. It was about translating that into performance. I’m delighted that she is finally getting the results,” Anjum added.
