Indian women all-rounder Deepti Sharma issued a warning to Australian women ahead of the third ODI. She said that they will try their everything to break the opposition’s winning streak.

Australia Women have had an upper hand over India in the ODIs. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side haven’t won a single game against them at home since 2007. The ongoing series was a great opportunity for them to end the jinx but they lost the games by a narrow margin.

India lost the first game by a margin of 6 wickets and they were at the receiving end of a narrow three-run loss in the second game. In both the games Deepti Sharma gave her best but she couldn’t take her team past the finishing line.

Deepti Sharma bowled magnificently well in both games, with her best coming in the second game, where she took five wickets. The all-rounder also was handy with the bat down the order but despite her efforts team couldn’t win and lost two games on trot.

Deepti Sharma will be having another opportunity to end the winning streak of Australia. The third match between the teams will be played on Tuesday (2nd January) and India would be eager to win the game and avoid whitewash in the series.

Deepti Sharma admitted that they have improved a lot as a team in all the departments. She highlighted how they have put up a great fight with Australia, which earlier wasn’t there. Speaking to reporters, she explained:

“Look, winning and losing is a part of the game — but we have improved as a team — be it as a bowling unit or batting. We will try to break their winning streak as soon as possible. There have been a lot of improvements. Earlier, whenever we would play against Australia the games never used to go that close.

“This is one positive (from the last match) that we are able to take it till the end. We did well as a bowling unit, the spinners and the pacers to have restricted them. At the same time the batters did well, their partnerships in between were good.”

IND-W vs AUS-W: I have increased my bowling sessions – Deepti Sharma

Deepti Sharma opened up about her bowling heroics and revealed that she has increased her bowling sessions and is bowling in every phase of the game. She added that her complete focus is on the last game. She explained:

“I have to speak about my bowling, I have trained a lot. I have increased my bowling sessions and have also bowled in different phases such as with the new ball, or in the middle overs, or even how to bowl with the old ball in the death overs.

“Every team plays to win but some days you are able to pull it off and some days you are not. We gave it a good fight, took it till the end of the game and now I am focusing on tomorrow’s match.”

The last game of the series will be played in Mumbai. Following that two teams will lock horns with each other in the three-match T20I series.
