India "A" Squad For One-day Series Against New Zealand "A" Announced

Sanju Samson, a wicketkeeper-batsman, will captain India A against New Zealand A in the forthcoming one-day series, which will be contested in Chennai.

The first game of the series will be played on September 22, and the following two will be on September 25 and 27. The roster also includes players like Prithvi Shaw, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur, and Umran Malik. 

Sanju Samson To Lead India-A Squad Against NZ-A

India A will take on New Zealand A in three one-day matches, starting on September 22. In a statement on Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced:

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked India “A” squad for the upcoming three-match Mastercard one-day series against New Zealand “A” to be played in Chennai.”

Players from the Under 19 World Cup team are also included in the squad as Raj Angad Bawa and Tilak Verma come in the team against New Zealand-A.

New Zealand A had been on tour India for three four-day matches and as many one-day games. Currently, the third unofficial 4-day game is being played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Batting first, hosts managed to score 293 in their innings, thanks to a brilliant century from Ruturaj Gaikwad (108) along with useful contribution from the wicket-keeper batter Upendra Yadav (76). For NZ-A, Matthew Fisher was the most succesful bowler, picking up 4 for 52.

In reply, NZ-A were struggling at 49-4 before Mark Chapman (92) stabilized the innings. Currently, they are just 74 runs behind the host’s total with 4 wickets still in hand.
