India And Pakistan To Face Each Other In New York As ICC To Announce New Venue For ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Soon- Report

New York is reportedly set to be one of the venues for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The next edition of the T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA. It will be a historic competition as the USA will be hosting World Cup matches for the very first time.

The cricket authorities have been trying for long to make headway in the USA. The success of the first season of the Major League Cricket (MLC) earlier this year must have boosted their confidence. And the ICC is reportedly set to organize a big clash in New York in the forthcoming T20 World Cup.

The match is likely to be held at a 34,000-seater pop-up facility about 30 miles east of New York City. The ICC is likely to make the announcement about the venue soon, according to Cricbuzz. The report further stated that the facility will be erected in Eisenhower Park spread across 930 acres in East Meadow, a hamlet on Long Island, about 30 miles east of Manhattan.  The marquee clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is set to take place at the venue.

ICC to announce New York venue soon for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Previously, the ICC had planned to construct a pop-up venue in Van Cortlandt Park in the borough of Bronx. However, the plan did not materialize after the talks between ICC and New York City officials fell through. One of the reasons was the resistance from the locals residing near the park.

The ICC, however, was quick to react and picked Nassau County as the new venue. The ICC officials have already talked with the Nassau County officials and the administrators of the Eisenhower Park. The pop-up venue will come as a big relief for the ICC since the USA does not have adequate floodlit state-of-the-art cricket structures.

The USA is set to host as many as 20 games during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The matches are likely to be played across three venues – Dallas, Miami, and New York. North Carolina is also in contention to host a few games but the lack of permanent structure is a big obstacle.

Meanwhile, a total of 20 teams will be participating in the next edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament is scheduled to be played from June 4 to 30.
