Team India's tour of Bangladesh continues to be in jeopardy as there is nothing has been finalized yet despite efforts made by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). BCB is trying its best to arrange a bilateral white-ball series with the India National Cricket Team on their home soil.
Tamim Iqbal, the head of the cricket board, is among the leading voices who have been trying to convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as well as the Indian government, for a series. In a latest online YouTube live session, Abhishek Tripathi, a Dainik Jagran journalist, provided some latest updates on India's potential tour of Bangladesh.
A bilateral series between India and Bangladesh is still possible
Tripathi informed that BCB is trying their best to host a series. To make that happen, they discussed with their government, with the BCCI, and with the Indian government as well. The relationship between India and Bangladesh declined on political grounds ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup, so without support from the governments, an India vs Bangladesh series in Bangladesh will not be possible to arrange.
As Tamim Iqbal is well aware of the string of events involving the BCCI, India, Bangladesh, and the Bangladesh Cricket Team staged before the 2026 T20 World Cup opener, the BCB head is reportedly in communication with both the BCCI and the governments.

A few days ago, it was widely reported that Tamim visited Bengaluru after a meeting with Bangladesh Government officials with two other board delegates with the aim of hosting a long-awaited series with India. Previously published reports suggested that BCB is confident of hosting India for a white-ball series, but the confirmation is yet to arrive on the table.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board is continuing its preparations, and the BCCI also wants cricket to take place between India and Bangladesh. However, the BCCI has not yet received permission from the Government of India.
“Nothing can move forward until the government approves. If permission is given, the situation will be reviewed, and the next steps will be decided. As of now, no approval has been received,” Abhishek Tripathi told Ankar Kar during a Ray Sportz Cricket live session on YouTube.
“The BCCI, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and the Bangladesh government are all trying to secure approval from the Indian government. That is the latest update regarding cricket between India and Bangladesh,” the journalist further claims.
Why there are complications between India and Bangladesh?
India was about to travel to Bangladesh for a series at the end of the previous year. But it never happened. Later, the relationship between these two nations and their cricket boards worsened just days ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Amid political uncertainties in Bangladesh, which affected the diplomatic relationship with India as well, the BCCI was forced to ask the Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL 2026 squad.
The snub of Rahman became a massive issue for the BCB, after which they refused to travel to India to play the 2026 T20 World Cup, citing safety and security concerns.
