India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, outplayed the UAE in their Asia Cup 2025 opener at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, September 10. They bowled out the home team for just 57 runs in 13.1 overs after winning the toss. The Men in Blue then chased down the target in just 4.3 overs.
India Introduce Innovative Fielding Drill Ahead of Asia Cup Clash Against Pakistan
According to The Times of India, the Indian cricket team tried the innovative fielding drill. They set up a goalpost-sized safety net away from the batting area. Players were instructed to “defend” their goal by catching balls hit toward them.
Brand-new cricket balls were used for the exercise because of the extra speed. Each player rotated through two sets of five catches. Hardik Pandya impressed during the drill, taking several spectacular catches.
After initially dropping a catch, he later took a stunning catch and was seen hugging coach Dilip in celebration. Pandya took another brilliant catch while Shivam Dube watched in awe from the sidelines.
"Agar main dive maar raha hoon iska matlab main theek se move nahi kar raha (If I am diving it means, I am not moving and anticipating quickly)," quipped Pandya after missing a catch.
