India equal Pakistan's world record after crushing Bangladesh in 1st T20I

India continued their remarkable T20I form with a commanding seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first match of the three-match T20I series in Gwalior. Riding on stellar performances by Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy, the Indian cricket team restricted Bangladesh to a mere 127 runs.

Later, the chase was spearheaded by the Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya with a fiery knock, as the Men in Blue won the opening T20I by seven wickets with 49 balls at the New Madhavrao Scindia International Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Sunday, October 6.

This one-sided victory has not only given the Indian cricket team a 1-0 lead but also extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches in T20I cricket. It was the Indian team's 20th win in 21 T20Is, with only a single defeat they suffered in Zimbabwe since December 2023.

This clinical performance also helped the hosts to etch their name in T20I history, as they equaled Pakistan's world record for bowling out opponents the most times in the shortest format of the game. Both Pakistan and India have now bowled out opponents 42 times in T20I cricket.

Indian cricket team's dominance in T20I cricket continues, and their ability to dismantle batting lineups places them at the top of the chart alongside their arch-rivals Pakistan. New Zealand follows closely with the tally of 40, while Uganda and the West Indies trail behind with the tally of 35 and 32, respectively.

India vs Bangladesh 1st T20I Highlights

Speaking about IND vs BAN first T20I in Gwalior, the Men in Blue recorded a convincing seven-wicket win over Bangladesh, thanks to stellar bowling from Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy. Arshdeep’s left-arm pace and Varun’s spin attack dismantled the Bangladesh batting line-up, restricting them to a modest 127.

Then, the hosts comfortably chased the target with 49 balls remaining, taking a 1-0 lead in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson and captain Suryakumar Yadav powered the Indian team's chase with an explosive partnership of 40 for the second wicket.

Samson hit six boundaries in his 29-run knock, while Suryakumar dazzled the crowd with a rapid 29-run knock off 14 balls, smashing two fours and three sixes. However, the Indian captain fell after a massive six. Hardik took charge, blasting 39 off 16 balls to thrill the crowd.

Pandya’s knock, studded with five boundaries and two sixes, along with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy’s unbeaten 16, guided the Men in Blue to an easy victory over Bangladesh at Gwalior’s new international stadium. Notably, the second T20I will be played on October 9 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Suryakumar Yadav said at the post-match presentation ceremony: “We just tried to back our skills and what we decided in the team meeting, we just walked the talk."
