Team India, on Friday (June 28), canceled their training session ahead of the final against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC confirmed.

Team India and South Africa will be locking horns in the title decider on Saturday (June 29) at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. India played the semifinal on Thursday evening and had a training session scheduled just hours later.

However, the Indian team management has decided to cancel the session in order to give the players adequate rest before the all-important final. Team India are also scheduled to travel to Barbados on Friday via a charter flight.

"India have cancelled their training session," said the ICC, as quoted by HT.

In another surprising decision, the Indian team also held two press conferences back-to-back in Guyana. The first one was for the post-match press conference after the semifinal win over England while the second was the pre-match press conference ahead of the final. Axar Patel attended the first conference while Rahul Dravid attended the second.

"I think we could have easily defended at 170. It was a very good score. The way the wicket was behaving, when we spoke to Rohit [Sharma], he said it was very difficult to hit a big shot because the odd ball is spinning and the odd ball is also staying down, skidding on.

"So that was our thought that 150-160 is a very good score, we can defend it. So, when we made 170, we knew that we made 10-15 runs more," said Axar Patel who picked up 3 wickets in the game and was adjudged the Player of the Match.

India thoroughly outplayed England to qualify for the final after a gap of ten years. Asked to bat first on a tough pitch, India went on to post a big total of 171/7 thanks to a fine fifty from their talismanic captain Rohit Sharma. The bowlers then came up with another good show and bowled out England for just 103 runs.

India eye historic title:

Team India are now just one win away from creating history. They can become the third team and the first Asian team to win the T20 World Cup twice. Only West Indies and England have managed to achieve the feat so far.

The Men in Blue will be facing South Africa in the final. While India are eyeing their second T20 World Cup title, their opponents are eyeing their first-ever World Cup across any format. Both India and South Africa have won all of their games in the competition so far and will be fancying their chances of winning the all-important final as well.
