The India National Cricket Team have hit a historic low despite the brilliant batting performances from Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant in the Test series opener against the England National Cricket Team.
Team India suffered an awful collapse on Day 2 of the first Test against the England National Cricket Team at Headingley in Leeds on Saturday, June 21, to register an unwanted record.

India lost 7 wickets for just 41 runs
Playing the first Test match in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after a long time, the Shubman Gill-led side displayed a brilliant batting performance on English soil.
The opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul took India off to a great start as they built a solid 91-run opening partnership. Although India lost Sai Sudharsan for a duck, Shubman Gill joined forces with Yashasvi Jaiswal and stabilised the innings.
The duo batted exceptionally well, and both the youngsters slammed terrific tons. After Jaiswal fell, Rishabh Pant joined forces with Shubman Gill, and he too hit a brilliant century.
When Gill got out on the fifth ball of the 101st over, the visitors found themselves in a strong position at 430/3, and it looked like they would easily breach the 500-run mark.
However, that didn't happen as India suffered a shocking collapse and lost 7 wickets for 41 runs, getting bundled out for 471 runs in 113 overs (430/4, 447/5, 453/6, 454/7, 458/8, 469/9 and 471/10).
It was India's highest first innings total in an away Test since their total of 622/7D in Sydney in 2019, but the visiting team also recorded the lowest all-out total in Test history to contain three individual hundreds. South Africa's 475 in Centurion in 2016 was the previous lowest total with three individual tons.

471 looks a lot better for England than it could have been - Michael Atherton
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former England skipper Michael Atherton said that the Three Lions would be happy to stop the visitors at 471. He stated:
“Tongue’s figures were not looking pretty an hour ago but he ends with a smile and four wickets. India have done very well but 471 looks a lot better for England than it could have been.
During the same interaction, the former English skipper Nasser Hussain said:
"England kept going, kept persevering and wickets came - but bowling out India is a double-edged sword as the lights are on and the ball is starting to move. India will fancy their chances."
Meanwhile, speaking on the BBC Test Match Special, former England captain Michael Vaughan said that Ben Stokes & Co. would be delighted with their performance in the final hour of India's innings. He said:
"These wickets will be giving Josh Tongue a load of confidence, he didn't have a great day yesterday. England will be delighted with this last hour of play, but they will have to play really well with the bat."
He also issued a warning to England, stating that the Jasprit Bumrah-led bowling will come hard at them. He said:
"You look at Ben Stokes, he will be delighted. But now the game starts. The India seamers will be used to bowling on these surfaces so they will fancy themselves. Jasprit Bumrah is world-class."
