After the thrashing faced by India against New Zealand in the last series, former Indian pacer Varun Aaron had claimed that India won't give an inch or quarter to the visiting West Indies side. While Jasprit Bumrah is expected to fire in the home series, Aaron hopes for some game time for Kuldeep Yadav.

India are currently featured in the Asia Cup 2025, as the World Champions in the shorter format of the game have made it to the finals and are all set to feature in the match against arch-rivals Pakistan. India will be eyeing their 9th title in the history of the continental championship.

After the end of the Asia Cup, with the final scheduled on the 28th of September on Sunday, India will next take on the West Indies in a two-match Test series at home. The series is set to start on the 2nd of October.

Varun Aaron predicts India not giving away an inch in the West Indies series

Citing the workload management of the star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, he has been regularly given a break from the game. The last time India played at home in a red-ball series was against New Zealand, where the hosts lost the series 0-3.

This led to a feat that will continue to be a nightmare for both Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir. The former Indian pacer Varun Aaron predicted that the upcoming series would mark India not giving way an inch to the visiting side.

“After the drubbing we got against New Zealand, I don’t think Gautam Gambhir or Shubman Gill, because it is his first home series as captain, I’m sure he does not want to give even an inch, not even a quarter. I think they are very serious about Test cricket,” Varun Aaron said on ESPN Cricinfo.

"India has made a lot of accommodation for Jasprit Bumrah," observes Varun Aaron

In the last month's concluded Test series between India and England, India have played Jasprit Bumrah only in three of their 5 games. When the announcement was made, there was a division of opinions; however, the Indian management remained firm on their motives.

Varun Aaron has predicted that Jasprit Bumrah will be expected to be back in the Indian lineup for both games in the series, while his workload will be managed in the upcoming Australia series.

"India has made a lot of accommodations for Jasprit Bumrah. If you are managing someone’s workload to that extent, you want him in every series. I think they might manage Bumrah’s workload in the ODIs in Australia as well. He might just play two,” the former Indian added.

Varun Aaron expects game time for Kuldeep Yadav after being snubbed of an opportunity in England

Varun Aaron has also hoped that the star spinner Kuldeep Yadav would get some game time in the upcoming series. Kuldeep's absence from the 5 matches of the India vs England Test series was also met with sharp criticism.

“All three (spinners) can bat; that is the best part of the Indian set-up, where you have somebody like Axar, Jadeja, and Sundar. I hope that Kuldeep Yadav gets a game in this series, but if they choose that route, they can have 3 spinners who can bat," Varun Aaron said.

"Kuldeep Yadav has been waiting too long in the wings, and he has been putting up performances in every competition except Test cricket," he added.
