'India might not get a player like Virat Kohli again' - Virender Sehwag's ultimate praise after batter's T20I retirement

Former India dashing opener Virender Sehwag has heaped praises on Virat Kohli after he retired from the T20 Internationals. Virender Sehwag said that players like him might not come to Indian cricket in the future.

Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is just after Team India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final. His long-time partner Rohit Sharma also pulled down the curtains on his T20I career after the achievement.

The duo also opened the innings for Team India in all the matches during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli arrived with a stunning knock of 76 runs in India vs South Africa final to win the Player of the Match award.

India might not get a player like Virat Kohli once again: Virender Sehwag

During a show on Cricbuzz, host Gaurav Kapur shared Virat Kohli's retirement message with Virender Sehwag and Parthiv Patel. Reacting to the same, Sehwag said it was a good decision as he scored runs in the match. The former India opener also feels India might not get players like Virat Kohli in the future.

"What can be better than this? You have scored runs, you team has won the final and you are getting a happy farewell. Hats off to Virat Kohli! India might not get players like Virat Kohli once again", Sehwag said. Have a look at the video below.

Keep the flag waving high- Virat Kohli's message to the younger generation

In his retirement message, Kohli mentioned that he was happy to come up with a crucial knock for the team when it needed the most. He also urged younger players to keep the India flag waving high.

The India National Cricket Team batting added that his retirement from T20I cricket was an open secret as the youngsters were anyway set to take over the T20I cricket with an eye on the next T20 World Cup in 2026.

Kohli struggled in the first 7 games of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Notably, Kohli struggled to come up with good knocks in the first seven games. He registered figures of 1, 4, 0, 24, 37, 0, and 9 before returning with a match-winning knock of 76 in the final.

He rescued the team from the top-order collapse as they lost 3 wickets quickly. With Kohli's 76, Team India piled up 176-7 in 1st innings. Later, they crushed South Africa by 7 runs.

Meanwhile, Kohli will return to India with other teammates to celebrate the victory with Indian fans. The Indian team will reach New Delhi on Thursday morning from Barbados and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
