The India ODI Team is one of the strongest 50-over teams in the world at present. India's performance in ODIs has been consistently brilliant over the last couple of decades or so. After winning the ODI World Cup in 2011, India also won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni's captaincy.
In 2015, India made it to the semifinal of the ODI World Cup before losing to eventual winners Australia. A couple of years later, India qualified for the final of the Champions Trophy for the second time in a row but lost the title-decider against Pakistan.
In 2019, India once again made it to the semifinal of the World Cup but suffered a loss against New Zealand. Four years later, India produced a dominating display at the 2023 World Cup on home soil but were left heartbroken once again. The dominating run came to an end in the final against Australia.
India finally ended their long wait for an ICC trophy in the 50-over format in 2025 when Rohit Sharma led them to glory in the Champions Trophy. The triumph also made India the first-ever team to win the Champions Trophy twice.
India have done really well in ODIs and now have their eyes set on the 2027 World Cup. Rohit is currently the captain of the ODI team, although he has retired from Tests and T20Is. Rohit is still one of the best ODI batters in the world and has led the team from the very front.
The presence of other big names such as Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and others makes India's ODI team a formidable unit.
