The BCCI has announced India's ODI squad for the upcoming home series against the West Indies. The three-match white-ball assignment will see Shubman Gill continue as captain, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have both been picked for the ODI fixtures.
The squad announcement was made on Wednesday, September 16, with the selectors also handing opportunities to a few new players. Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir have earned places in the 15-member squad, while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad are also part of the group.

Shubman Gill will lead the ODI side, with KL Rahul named his deputy. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will provide considerable experience to the batting unit, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Naman Dhir add further options.
Dhruv Jurel is the other wicketkeeping option alongside KL Rahul. The squad also includes all-rounders Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja, while Kuldeep Yadav will lead the spin department.
Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar are among the pace options, with Auqib Nabi also receiving a call-up.

Mohammed Shami & Bhuvneshwar Kumar ignored despite stellar performances
Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were among the notable omissions from India's ODI squad for the West Indies series despite strong recent performances. Shami was particularly impressive in the Duleep Trophy, helping East Zone win the title after taking two wickets in the final. He finished the match with 2/42 and also played a key role during the tournament's knockout stage.
Shami's domestic performances have kept the veteran pacer in the conversation for an India return. He took five wickets in East Zone's semi-final victory over Central Zone before producing another effective spell in the final on a flat Chepauk surface. He has not played for India since March 2025, but his recent red-ball performances have again highlighted his experience and wicket-taking ability.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, meanwhile, has been in outstanding form for Royal Challengers Bengaluru over the last two IPL seasons. After taking 17 wickets in IPL 2025, the veteran pacer claimed 28 wickets in the 2026 edition at an average of 17.89. He finished just one wicket behind the Purple Cap winner and played an important role in RCB's successful title defence.
Despite those performances, Bhuvneshwar has not played for India since November 2022. The 36-year-old recently admitted that he felt he deserved another opportunity with the national team, although he had also accepted that an international return was no longer entirely within his control.
This non-selection also confirms that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are not looking at Shami and Bhuvneshwar as options for the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
