Hardik Pandya NOT in India white-ball squads; Mayank Yadav returns
Hardik Pandya has been left out of India's squads for the upcoming white-ball assignments against the West Indies, with the all-rounder not included in either the ODI or T20I team. His absence comes amid continued uncertainty over his bowling fitness, with reports suggesting that he is still not capable of bowling more than six overs in a match.
That limitation has reportedly created doubts over his suitability for the ODI setup, where a seam-bowling all-rounder is expected to provide a substantial number of overs. Hardik's absence from the T20I squad also means he will miss another international assignment as India continue to manage his fitness and workload. The selectors have instead retained Nitish Kumar Reddy as an all-round option across the white-ball squads.
Mayank Yadav, meanwhile, has returned to India's T20I squad for the series against the West Indies. The express pacer last represented India during the T20I series against Zimbabwe in July, where he played three matches and took five wickets, including career-best figures of 3/29. He finished that series with an economy rate of 6.55.
The 24-year-old has now played six T20Is for India and has taken nine wickets at an average of 17.22 and an economy rate of 6.74. His T20I strike rate stands at 15.33. Mayank made his international debut against Bangladesh in October 2024 and took four wickets during his first three appearances.
At the domestic level, Mayank has also featured in 26 T20 matches, claiming 30 wickets. He has taken 34 wickets in 17 List A matches and two wickets in his solitary first-class appearance. His IPL career currently includes 10 matches for Lucknow Super Giants in 2026, with nine wickets to his name.
Mayank's return gives India another high-pace option for the T20I series, while Hardik's continued absence keeps the focus on his bowling fitness and his eventual return to international cricket.
