India will take on England in the second of the IND vs ENG five-match Test series 2025. This article provides details about India's Playing 11 vs England for the second match of the series.
India Playing 11 vs England- 2nd Test, India Tour of England 2025:
Openers: KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue to open the innings for India in the second Test against England at Edgbaston.
The duo will look to get the team off to a solid start like they did in the first innings of the opening by adding 91 runs for the first wicket.
The openers will have to do the bulk of the run scoring and ensure that one of the two openers gets a big score under his belt.
As was the case in the opening game, with Yashasvi and Rahul getting a century in the first and second innings, respectively.
KL, especially, will have to bat for a long time, being one of the senior players in the squad along with Jadeja and Bumrah.
Rahul's importance also increases in the upcoming Test, taking into account the reports of Bumrah being rested for the second Test due to workload management, doing the rounds.
Talking about Yashasvi, although it is his first England tour, the left-hander would once again be expected to get runs at the top of the order.
Another key aspect that the experts would have their eyes glued on would be Yashasvi's fielding. The Indian opener dropped a few catches at crucial moments of the game, which played a huge role in deciding the outcome.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Sai Sudharshan, Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur
The opening pair will be followed by the middle order, which consists of Sai Sudharshan, captain Shubman Gill, and vice-captain Rishabh Pant. The trio will look to score runs and put the pressure on the opposition.
The onus will be on the captain and the vice-captain to keep up the good work they did in the first match by scoring three centuries between them.
Having said that, Indian captain Shubman Gill would also want the team's lower middle order to contribute significantly, as it was one of the points of difference in the last match.
The visitors were not able to capitalize on the platform laid by the top five batters and missed the opportunity to bat England out of the game.
Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
India's bowling lineup might not have its spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, who is expected to be rested for the second.
In such a scenario, Mohammed Siraj will have to take the responsibility upon himself to deliver a match-winning performance as a senior bowler in the playing XI.
Prasidh Krishna will also have to put on a better show with the ball and keep his economy in check, along with picking wickets consistently.
Arshdeep Singh is expected to replace Jasprit Bumrah for the second match as he will bring the left-arm angle in play.
As far as the spin bowling department is concerned, it will be handled by Ravindra Jadeja, who bowled well in the first match without a great deal of success.
