India, led by Shubman Gill, delivered a disappointing bowling performance in the first Test of the ongoing five-match series against England at Headingley in Leeds. Team India skipper Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir might consider changes to their bowling lineup for the second Test match.
India began the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle following the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They delivered good batting displays in both innings, posting 471 and 364 runs. However, they lost the match to England by five wickets and conceded a 0-1 lead to the Ben Stokes-led team.
India Playing XI for 2nd Test vs England Locked - Report
According to RevSportz reporter Rohit Juglan, India might make three changes to their lineup. Juglan mentioned that the team management is likely to include three players named “Deep” in the playing XI.
Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep could return after missing the first Test. Jasprit Bumrah might be rested to manage his workload. Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna may make way for Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep.
"3 Deep's in Playing 11," Juglan wrote on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

India's bowling and fielding let them down in the first Test at Leeds
India's bowling and fielding let them down in the first Test at Leeds. Jasprit Bumrah recorded figures of 5/83 in the first innings, but England still managed to score 465. On the final day, the hosts comfortably chased down 371, with Bumrah going wicketless in the second innings.
The rest of the Indian attack failed to make an impact. The pace trio of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Shardul Thakur were expensive, collectively conceding 482 runs for just nine wickets at an economy rate of over 5.20. Ravindra Jadeja ended with figures of 1/172 across both innings.
India also dropped multiple catches, including two of opener Ben Duckett, who went on to score 62 and 149. Although five Indian batters scored centuries across the match, the team's poor bowling and sloppy fielding ultimately led to the defeat.
Jasprit Bumrah May Miss the Second Test Against England
Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the second Test against England at Edgbaston, according to multiple reports. India had planned to use him in only three of the five matches in the series to manage his workload. He played the first Test and is expected to feature in just two of the remaining four games.
The second Test begins on July 2, and with only a three-day gap before the third Test, it's almost certain that Bumrah won't be available for both. With India trailing 0-1 in the series, his absence for the next match would be a significant blow. Arshdeep Singh will make his debut for India in Test cricket.
