Play A Test Match Is India Is Bucket-List Stuff – Kate Cross

England seamer Kate Cross expressed that playing a Test match in India is a bucket-list opportunity for many players. She noted the growth of women’s cricket and the emergence of role models in the Indian women’s team during her stay in India.

“The opportunity to come and play a Test match in India is bucket-list stuff for a lot of players. I’ve been in India for a couple of weeks now and you can see that girls have role models in that team now,” Kate Cross told ESPNcricinfo in Bangalore, where she is working as a broadcaster at the men’s World Cup.

England players are expected to arrive in India at the beginning of December, with the possibility of a slight delay for some players involved in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) final on December 2. A total of 15 English players are participating in the WBBL 2023.

The WPL Helped With The Growth Of The Women’s Game – Kate Cross

Kate Cross acknowledged the positive impact of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on women’s cricket and the growing appetite for the game in India, emphasizing the potential for significant crowds when well-promoted.

“We played in front of over 12,000 people in Guwahati. The chance to come back here and play as an England team again is going to be special,” Cross recalled.

“The WPL [Women’s Premier League] has obviously helped with the growth of the women’s game. After the summer we’ve just had with the Ashes, you want to be playing in front of big crowds, and there is an appetite for the women’s game in India that just keeps growing. If it’s well advertised, people will come and watch.”
