India National Cricket Team faced another injury blow ahead of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia National Cricket Team. Pacer Khaleel Ahmed faced a severe injury and was sent back home before the opening game of the series.
As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that Khaleel Ahmed got injured and didn't look in good shape. The bowler was unable to bowl in the nets and was sent back home by the Indian team management for recovery ahead of the white-ball domestic season in India.
Khaleel Ahmed will be missing the first two games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 as well
The reports claimed that Khaleel Ahmed will be missing the first two games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 as well. The 20-over tournament in India will begin on 23rd November, and it will be a massive blow for the fast bowler, especially with the IPL auction around the corner as well.
Khaleel Ahmed was part of the India A team for the tour games against Australia A as well as the main India squad as a reserve for BGT. He played both games and had a decent outing with the ball. He then trained with the main team ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which also took place in a three-day match simulation.

In his absence, Yash Dayal has been training with the team for the last two days. The fast bowler is the only left-arm pacer in the team. He joined the team late as he was part of the team for the recently concluded four-match T20I series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
India National Cricket Team will be without some of their key players in the opening game
The first Test between the India National Cricket Team and the Australia National Cricket Team will be beginning from 22nd November. The series opener of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played at the WACA Stadium in Perth. The series between the teams will be part of the ICC World Test Championship as well.
India National Cricket Team will be without some of their key players in the opening game. Skipper Rohit Sharma, who along with his wife welcomed his second child, hasn't joined the team as yet, and there are some other injury concerns as well for the team.
Shubman Gill most likely will be missing the first Test
Shubman Gill injured his finger while taking a catch during a match simulation. The batter most likely will be missing the first Test and is expected to return for the second game. In his absence, India likely will be making Devdutt Padikkal at No.3 in Perth.
There have been reports that have claimed that Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana will be making their debut as well. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul is expected to open the innings and Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the team in the opening game of the series.
