Akash Deep Limps Off On Day 4 of Lord’s Test
The Edgbaston hero Akash Deep has not been very successful with the ball in the ongoing Test match against the Three Lions, and now his troubles seem to have increased.
On Day 4, Akash opened his account by taking the wicket of Harry Brook in the 22nd over. It was a perfect revenge taken by Akash as the English batting sensation had smoked him for three consecutive boundaries in the previous over.
Meanwhile, Akash was seen holding onto his hip and having a conversation with the physio on the sidelines during the 32nd over, which was bowled by Mohammed Siraj.
Just after Siraj's over, an informal drinks break was taken by the batters, and Akash Deep was seen walking off the field. He was limping on his way back to the dressing room, leaving India sweating over his fitness.
"I'm not sure why there's a drinks break to be honest, we've got one in half an hour and we've just had lunch!" Michael Atherton said on-air during the sudden break in play.

Washington Sundar shines in Akash Deep's absence
As Akash Deep walked back to the dressing room due to fitness issues, captain Shubman Gill was forced to rely more on his spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. Washington Sundar shone in the absence of Akash and removed Jamie Smith and Joe Root in quick succession.
England went to Tea with 175/6 on the board, and speaking on Sky Sports, Nasser Hussain felt that the visitors are slight favourites for the win. He said:
"India are slight favourites in my book because the pitch is doing a bit but not extravagantly so. That new ball is absolutely vital but what I've liked about it is that as the ball has gotten softer and older, you have to find different skills. You need to have a balanced attack. You may even need two spinners. If it's not spinning off the pitch, you may need to deceive them in the air with a bit of drift like Washington has done."
Talking about Washington Sundar, the former India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik said that he has a bright future. He stated:
"Washington is replacing one of the legends of the game in Ravichandran Ashwin and has been overshadowed for a major part of his career. But he's still young and has a bright future because of how well he bats. If he's able to contribute with the ball at any time in the Test match with one or two, that's exactly what his role is. He really out-thought Smith."
