India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about the possibility of playing 4 spinners in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against the Australia National Cricket Team. He said that it's a tempting option, but they need to think about it.
India National Cricket Team is all set to lock horns with Australia National Cricket Team in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The match between the two teams will be taking place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Tuesday (4th March).
India and Australia, who were finalists of the ICC World Cup 2023, will be entering the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on the back of some impressive wins. Both the teams were undefeated in the league stage of the tournament and would be keen to win another match.
Going into the semi-final, India National Cricket Team will be having a massive headache about their combination, especially with the way Varun Chakravarthy performed in the last game against New Zealand. The Rohit Sharma-led side went in with four spinners as Harshit Rana was rested.
Varun Chakravarthy picked a fifer against New Zealand
However, Varun Chakravarthy grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The mystery spinner oozed his class with the ball as he picked a fifer in what was his second ODI. The India National Cricket Team spinner looked unplayable as he bowled superbly to both left-handers as well as right-handers.
Varun Chakravarthy removed Will Young, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, and Matt Henry to return with the figures of 5/32. He helped India bundle out the opposition for 205 to win the game by 44 runs.
With his spell, Varun Chakravarthy surely has put his case forward for the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against Australia. However, going with just one pacer and Hardik Pandya as the seam-bowling all-rounder, it might be a thing that might cost the India National Cricket Team in the big clash.

"We really need to think, even if we want to play four spinners, how we can squeeze four spinners. We'll think about it, what is the right combination to go with. But it is tempting."
All we had to do is what we've been thinking about last three games - Rohit Sharma on the semi-final against Australia
Rohit Sharma hailed Australia but was quick to mention that they will take the match just like they played their last three games. He stressed that they will be focused on playing with a similar approach. He elaborated:
"Look, it's a great opposition (Australia) to play against. All we had to do is what we've been thinking about last three games. And we have to approach that game in a similar fashion."
