India will be hosting the New Zealand Women's team immediately after the conclusion of the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Both teams will be locking horns in a three-match ODI series.

All three games of the series are scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad. The first game is scheduled to take place on October 24 while the second and third games will be played on October 27 and 29 respectively. The series is a part of the ongoing ICC Women's ODI Championship 2022-25.

The series was originally scheduled to take place last year. However, it was postponed because of the Indian team's packed schedule. During the busy schedule last winter, the Indian team played one-off Tests against England and Australia. Just before that, a number of players had also participated in the WBBL.

India, New Zealand players likely to miss WBBL games:

With Championship points at stake, both teams are expected to be at full strength. As a result, a number of big names from both sides are set to miss at least the first couple of rounds in the WBBL 2024. The WBBL is scheduled to begin on October 27, the same date as the second ODI between India and New Zealand.

A total of six Indian players will be plying their trades in the WBBL this year. The players are Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Smriti Mandhana, Shikha Pandey, Hemalatha Dayalan, and Yastika Bhatia. Soon after the conclusion of the WBBL, the Indian team will also take on Australia in a three-match ODI series from December 5 to 11.

Meanwhile, India have automatically qualified for the 2025 ODI World Cup as hosts. On the other hand, New Zealand are at the sixth spot in the 10-team ICC Women's ODI Championship standings. They have won only eight of the 18 ODIs so far and will be desperate to do well in the upcoming series.

Apart from India, the top five teams in the ICC Women's ODI Championship will qualify for the tournament. The remaining four teams will have to play the qualifiers for a place in the World Cup.

India and New Zealand recently locked horns against each other in the T20 World Cup. New Zealand went on to win the game with utmost ease to start their campaign in a fine fashion. They thrashed the Women in Blue by 58 runs.
