Bangladesh has been left red-faced after the International Cricket Council (ICC) cleared India of all security doubts for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, starting on February 7. After days of noise, confusion, and alarming claims, the ICC has made it clear that India is fully safe to host Bangladesh’s matches in the upcoming showpiece event.

ICC clears India, rejects all security concerns raised by Bangladesh

As reported by Sports Tak, the ICC has rejected Bangladesh’s security concerns and confirmed that the team will play its ICC T20 World Cup 2026 matches in India as planned. The global governing body has confirmed that there is no risk or danger for the Bangladesh cricket team, its players, officials, or fans during the tournament in India.

ICC made its part clear after independent security checks were done by internationally recognized experts. The experts studied the situation in detail and found that the overall risk for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India is low to moderate.

Independent security checks find no threat to Bangladesh in India

The governing body said that this level of risk is normal for any big international event. Most importantly, they did not find any special or direct threat to Bangladesh. The global body also noted that Bangladesh’s match venues in Kolkata and Mumbai were also found to be safe.

Furthermore, the ICC also explained that security teams always prepare for different situations. This is part of normal planning and is done only to stay ready for any possibility. It does not mean there is an actual threat. They also slammed Bangladesh for wrongly describing this planning as “danger” and “risk,” which created unnecessary fear.

ICC denies claims on Mustafizur Rahman, fan safety, and elections

ICC’s response came after Bangladesh’s sports advisor Asif Nazrul claimed that the governing body had warned them about security risks. He said the ICC security team had raised concerns about including fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman in the squad.

Nazrul also spoke about possible problems for Bangladeshi fans wearing their team jerseys in public in India. Even the sports advisor linked the issue to the election timings back in Bangladesh. However, the ICC has completely denied all these claims.

According to ICC sources, they have never told any team to select or drop a player for security reasons. It has never advised fans to avoid wearing national colors. It has also never suggested changing elections or any domestic process because of the tournament.

Final schedule locked as ICC backs BCCI security plans for T20 World Cup 2026

The ICC has shown full confidence in the security plans being prepared with the BCCI and local authorities. India’s strong record of hosting big international sporting events safely has played a big role in the governing body’s decision. However, the security arrangements will continue to be reviewed, and all teams, including Bangladesh, will be kept involved in the process.

At the end, the ICC has made it clear that the T20 World Cup schedule is final and all teams are expected to follow the rules and meet their responsibilities. Now, their focus is on conducting a safe, secure, and fair ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
