India vs Australia venues revealed as Aussies prepare a masterplan to beat India

The venues for the highly-anticipated Australia vs India 2024/25 series have been confirmed. Rohit Sharma and his teammates are set to tour Australia towards the end of the year for a bumper five-match Test series.

It will be the first Test assignment between the two teams since Australia beat India last year to win their first ICC World Test Championship title. While the schedule of the series is yet to be announced, the venues have been confirmed.

Just like the last season, Perth will be the venue for the first Test of the upcoming season in Australia. In December last year, Australia kickstarted their Test season at home with the game against Pakistan in Perth. And they will be playing at the same venue for the first Test against Australia later this year. There were concerns over hosting the Test in Perth due to poor crowd attendance but Cricket Australia has decided to conduct the series opener at the Western Australia venue.

Australia vs India 2024/25: Venues

According to WAtoday, Adelaide will host the second Test while Brisbane will be the venue for the third game of the Australia vs India series. The traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s Tests will be played in Melbourne and Sydney respectively. On their previous tour of Australia, the visitors played the first Test in Adelaide before going to Melbourne and Sydney for the second and third Tests respectively. The fourth Test was played in Brisbane.

While Brisbane wanted to be reinstated as the traditional host of the first Test, Cricket Australia declined its request. One of the reasons behind the decision could be Australia’s impressive record in Perth. The home team has an imposing record at the Perth Stadium. The smallest winning margin was 146 runs against the Men in Blue when they last toured in 2018-19.

In the last Test played at the venue, Australia thrashed Pakistan by 360 runs after bowling them out for 89. On the other hand, Australia have looked shaky at the Gabba in recent times. Having not lost a single Test at the venue from 1989 to 2019, they lost against India at the Gabba in 2021 before being stunned by West Indies earlier this year.

India eyes historic hat-trick:

Team India will be eyeing a historic third straight Test series win in Australia when both teams lock horns against each other towards the end of the year. In the 2018/19 season, India won their first-ever Test series in Australia under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Two years later, they beat Australia in their backyard once again.

They will be looking to win the upcoming Australia vs India series as well to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India have the trophy since winning the home series in 2017. Last year, they defeated Australia at home to retain the trophy.
