The hosts India and the visitors England will now face each other in the three-match ODI series at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Pune), which will begin this Tuesday (23rd March).
This ODI series will be part of the 2020-23 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, which will be India’s second ODI series and England’s third ODI series under this Super League.
India vs England 2021, 1st ODI: Match Preview
Ahead of this ODI series, the hosts India already faced some strong challenges against the visitors England in the Test and T20I series. But they always made strong come back even behind from the series and ultimately won both the Test and T20I series. Now, India will face the same visitors in the ODI series.
Captain Virat Kohli and limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma are in brilliant forms with the bat. Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant also have produced some strong performances for the national team in recent times. While Prasidh Krishna is the new face in this team, Krunal Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are the other uncapped ODI players in this squad. There are also some players who have experienced only ODI.
Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), KL Rahul (wk), Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur.
Before this ODI series, the visitors England challenged the hosts in this India tour in both the Test series and T20I series. While they lost control in the Test series after the first game, they played a stronger way in the T20I series but just failed to achieve the ultimate success in that shorter format too. The 2019 ICC World Cup champions England are now getting ready for the ODI series where they are really strong against any team.
Jofra Archer is missing out on the ODI series due to his right elbow injury. His absence can hurt the inexperienced ODI pace-bowling line-up. England have a powerful batting line-up with the presence of Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Billings, skipper Eoin Morgan etc.
Eoin Morgan (C), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Liam Livingstone, Matt Parkinson, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, Mark Wood.
India vs England 2021, 1st ODI: Match Prediction
