In the first ODI of this series, the hosts scored 317/5 (50 overs) after losing the toss. Though England started their chasing in a firing way as they once scored 131/0 in just 14 overs, the regular wickets falling destroyed their path of chasing as the visitors were ultimately all out for 251 runs in 42.1 overs.

Earlier in January 2017, when these two teams met in an ODI at this venue, the hosts successfully chased the 351 runs target with 11 balls to spare (won by 3 wickets) despite once struggling on 63/4. Apart from some big scores, the pacers have also enjoyed this ODI venue.
