Former England captain, Kevin Pietersen has expressed his utter disappointment and has blasted the England selectors for not including three major players in Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran and Mark Wood in the squad for the first two Tests of the forthcoming 4-match Test series against India in India.

The three aforementioned players are been given rest in accordance with the rotation policy inducted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) keeping in mind the tight schedule in 2021. These three players are currently playing in the Test series in Sri Lanka, which the visitors lead.

Winning in India as good a feeling as winning in Australia: Kevin Pietersen

For, the 40-year-old a Test series victory in India feels as good as an away Ashes victory; Pietersen has experienced both – he was an important part of England’s Test series victories in Australia in 2010-11 and in India in 2012.

“Big debate on whether ENG have picked their best team to play India in the 1st Test. Winning IN India is as good a feeling as winning in Aus. It’s disrespectful to ENG fans & also @BCCI to NOT play your best team. Bairstow has to play! Broad/Anderson have to play!” Kevin Pietersen tweeted.

MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the first two Tests commencing 5th February and the next couple of Tests will be played at the newly built 110,000-seater Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
