Former England Spinner Graeme Swann has responded that he is not sure to agree with Gautam Gambhir’s comments to dismiss England of any chance to win in the upcoming Tets series. Gautham Gambhir had earlier admitted that he doesn’t see England winning any Test during their tour to India. India has dominated the opponents in their backyard for the last 9 years which would have been the reason behind Gambhir’s bold comments.

India and England are coming off with overseas victories which will be a huge boost for the teams. India managed to pull off a great historic 2-1 series win in Australia with the youngsters while England is coming off a 2-0 series win in Sri Lanka under the subcontinent pitches keeping a heck of a series on the cards. With a lot of match-winners on both sides, India will start favourites owing to the home advantage and the world-class spinners they possess.

“England Can Definitely Win A Test Match” – Graeme Swann

Graeme Swann did not agree with Gambhir’s comments to rule out England of any win in India and told that if England can use their resources well, then they can definitely win a game. He added the importance of Archer’s shock tactic, Ben Stokes being a world-class all-rounder, and Joe Root’s excellent form with the bat along with the experience of Broad and Anderson combining together could be crucial to England’s success. He also mentioned that chances of England winning the Day-Night Test in Ahmedabad being high.

“I’m not sure I agree with (Gambhir’s comments) so much. I think if England use their strongest aspects well enough; Jofra Archer’s shock tactic, Ben Stokes as a world-class all-rounder, Joe Root scoring as heavily as he can. If they can all perform alongside Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad, then England can definitely win a Test match. The day/night Test match (Third Test in Ahmedabad) might be the one to really focus o,” Graeme Swann told on his role as Betfair Ambassador.

I’m not surprised that India are very confident. They are coming off the back of a big victory in Australia. I think this is going to be as tough a challenge as any in world cricket to be honest (for England),” added Swann.

Swann Reckons Jadeja Will Be A Huge Miss For India

Graeme Swann has also told that Ravindra Jadeja will be highly missed by the Indian team due to the three-dimensional ability he possesses. Jadeja’s numbers with the bat in the last two years have been phenomenal and he can be vital when the pitch deteriorates on the fourth and fifth day of the Tests. He also notified that England will be happy that Jadeja is not around for the first two Tests.

“I think it’s a huge miss for India to be honest. Jadeja is a wonderful bowler, a wonderful cricketer actually. One of the most underrated cricketers…He’s all over the place. Brilliant with the bat and the ball. Amazing in the field. I think it’s a huge loss for India.”

“They (India) do have Ravichandran Ashwin at the other end who is – in his home conditions – simply untouchable, so we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out. But (for England) it’s a massive bonus that Jadeja is not fit,” Graeme Swann added.
