Team India will be without the services of champion fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth and final Test of the ongoing series against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, starting March 04.

The BCCI, on Saturday, issued a press release where it revealed that the fast bowler has been released from the squad ahead of the fourth Test after he requested the same due to personal reasons. The press release further added that no addition to the Indian squad has been made for the series finale.

”Jasprit Bumrah made a request to BCCI to be released from India’s squad ahead of the fourth Test owing to personal reasons. Accordingly, the fast bowler has been released and he will not be available for selection for the fourth Test. There will be no addition to India’s squad for the final Test,” said the BCCI in an official press release.

The ongoing four-match Test series between India and England was supposed to be Jasprit Bumrah’s homecoming in Test match cricket but due to the pitches that have been dished out, Bumrah, just like other fast bowlers, didn’t really come into the game as spinners from both sides continued to rule the roost.

Bumrah played his first home Test during the series-opener in Chennai on what turned out to be a pretty flat surface for the first two days. The fast bowler bowled as many as 42 overs in seeing heat across two innings and registered figures of 4/110.

The 27-year-old was then rested for the second Test as part of workload management. He made a comeback in the pink-ball Test but with the pitch aiding the spinners, he sent down six overs in the first innings and none in the second as Ashwin and Axar Patel ruled the roost.

Bumrah has already been rested from the five-match T20I series against England and it is highly likely that he wouldn’t play the three ODIs that follow the T20Is either. That means the next time we see Jasprit Bumrah on a cricket field, it could well be during the Indian Premier League.
