England captain Joe Root has praised Indian cricketers for winning in Australia and gives them a huge credit ahead of the upcoming four-match Test series against India. Joe Root who was the man of the series in the recently concluded Sri Lanka tour will be vital to England if they have to find success against the mighty Indian team. Root has good numbers in India averaging 53 and he is one of the best players of spin in the world which will come in handy.
The previous tour of England to India was a five-match Test series in 2016 which India managed to win it easily. But England is a different side now with the likes of Jofra Archer coming into the team. England will have to rely on their spin duo of Jack Leach and Dominic Bess to continue their good form together picking up 22 wickets in the tour of Sri Lanka recently.
“Huge Credit To India For Going There And Winning” – Joe Root
Joe Root stressed the importance of the win for India in Australia and heaped praises to the Indian cricketers. He told that a lot of nations would have looked at the India-Australia series for the way the Indian team handled the pressure. He added that Australia is a difficult place to win and India has won two consecutive tours now which is not an easy task by any means. Root concluded to keep working together as a unit which will reap more benefits.
“A lot of sides (squad) around will look at that (India-Australia series) that just happened in Australia. Huge credit to India for going there and winning as it is a very difficult place to win,” Root spoke while addressing a virtual press conference.
“Do your job as the best as you can and keep working together as a unit,” he added.
England Team Sweats Out In Practice
The England cricket team ended its six-day quarantine in Chennai and has started its training on Tuesday. They were seen sweating out in the nets and the practice session on Thursday ahead of the first Test between India and England on February 5 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The four Tests will be followed by five T20is and three ODIs in the month of March.
It will be interesting to see the combination that England plays in the first test with a world-class fast bowling attack and an inexperienced spin attack.
