Star English pacer, Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the second Test against India which is slated to begin from February 13 in Chennai. Archer has reportedly sustained an elbow injury and thus, he will not be a part of the English playing XI against India in the second Test. However, the good news for English fans is that the injury is a minor one.
Archer, recently complained of the Chennai pitch as he looked out of shape throughout the first Test match. He did not get enough wickets in conditions suitable for bowlers and the English pacer fired massive shots at the Chennai ground staff for preparing a substandard pitch for the first Test against India.
Jofra Archer Ruled Out Of The Second Test Against India
English speedster Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the second Test against India following an elbow injury. The second Test of the four-match series is scheduled to begin from February 13. England are 1-0 ahead in the series after they thumped the Indian Cricket Team by 227 runs in the first Test.
“The issue is not related to any previous injury and it is hoped the treatment will allow the condition to settle down quickly, allowing the player to return to action in time for the third Test in Ahmedabad,” the ECB said in a release in regards to Archer’s injury.
Archer Had A Miserable First Test
Archer had a forgetful debut on the Indian soil as he looked dismal in the first Test at Chennai. His contribution didn’t either come with the bat and with the ball too. He just picked a couple of wickets in the first innings and remained wicketless in the second as a fine spell from James Anderson saw England cruise past India.
The India National Cricket Team will also like to bounce back in the second Test as this match will be extremely crucial from the ICC World Test Championship’s perspective.
