India vs England 2021: Mohammed Shami Ruled Out As BCCI Announces The Squad For The Last Two Tests

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the last two Test matches of the series against England. Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the series as they have not yet recovered from the injuries sustained in Australia. Umesh Yadav will join the squad after a fitness test.

The third Test of the series is all set to begin from February 24. This will be the first Test match being played at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad which was inaugurated in 2020 and is the world’s biggest cricket stadium. As for the second Test, fans will be present in the stadium during the two Tests.

BCCI Announces The Indian Squad For The Last Two Test Matches Against England

The BCCI, on Tuesday, announced the Indian squad for the last two Test matches against England. Skipper Virat Kohli has maintained his position as the leader of the pack and so has the vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane. The most notable exclusion, however, has been of Mohammed Shami, who could have been a great asset for the side in the pink-ball Test which happens to be the third Test of the four-match series.

Team India for the last two Tests– Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vc), KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Md. Siraj.

Umesh Yadav, who was injured during the Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia, Will join the Indian camp in Ahmedabad and will replace Shardul Thakur in the side after his fitness assessment.

Team India Level The Series 1-1

The India National Cricket Team have levelled the four-match series 1-1 on Tuesday. The series began as a shocker for the hosts as the visitors, England beat them by a hefty margin fo 227 runs to go on top of the ICC World Test Championship Points Table. However, the national side bounced back in the second Test and won the match 317 runs.

Now, the Men in Blue have gone on the second spot in the ICC World Test Championship Points Table, with the Kiwis taking the first spot. England have gone down to the third spot while the Aussies sitting at the fourth spot.
