England skipper Joe Root has clarified that England’s goal is to make it to the ICC World Test Championship Final ahead of the third test against India in Ahmedabad. The series is well poised at 1-1 with two tests to go, and it is a huge task for England to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship Final as they need to win their remaining two tests against India.

Australia will be heading to the finals if England has drawn the series or won the series 2-1. India‘s hopes are looking a lot healthier as they need a minimum of a win and a draw in the remaining two tests against England to qualify. The third test is a day-night game and the pink ball will assist the seam movement a lot under the lights. India and England have a quality seam attack and it will an interesting battle between the teams.

And, you know, we’re gonna look after this week first. We’ve got to make sure that we play some really good cricket in what will be very different conditions I’m sure to the last game. Joe Root Stresses The Importance Of First Session

Joe Root mentioned the importance of the first session which could decide the outcome of the next two days. He explained not to leave the focus on the first session which had cost them earlier and added the benefits of getting the upper hand in the first session. He hoped to fight for the possibility of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championship finals at Lord’s.

“We just got to be extremely cliche, but we just got to look forward to that first session. We’ve seen how important it has been. We’ve been on the wrong side of that in a previous pink-ball game.

“We’ve also got it right and got ahead of things and seen how much of an advantage that can be too. So let’s do everything we can to win this game and then we can hopefully be in a position to talk about that (ICC World Test Championship Final) as a real possibility,” Joe Root further said.
