After dominating the longest format of the game, India will be up for a tougher challenge against the visitors England in a five-match T20 series starting Friday (March 12). All five matches will take place in Ahmedabad due to the pandemic situation and restrictions going around.

India won the four-match test series against England 3-1 and have qualified for the World Test Championship finals. They have last played a T20 series in the month of December against Australia and won the three-match series 2-1.

With the T20 Worldcup coming up this year, India has not rested their main players as this is most likely to be the last T20 series before the ultimate T20 World Cup in October. It will be a chance for the youngsters to cement their place while the seniors will be looking to make it count.

5 Indian Players Who Can Win The Man Of The Series Award:

5. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has been India’s number one spinner in the T20 format for a while now and already has a six-wicket haul in T20 internationals. He has played 45 T20 games and has picked up 59 wickets at an average of 24.7. He is not afraid to toss it up for the batsman and invite big shots which needs a lot of heart and courage. He could be a strong contender to win the man of the series award with a brilliant record against England in the past.

His economic rate has been on the higher end for some time but has been among the wickets and is a wicket-taker always. He cherishes when the batsman tries to go after him and operates in a very clever fashion. His form will be crucial to India’s success in the T20 World Cup and he can bowl at any period of the game giving a lot of options to the captain.

4. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya was the biggest positive for India in the Australia T20 tour as he finished with the Man of the series for his brilliant heroics in the second T20. He started the ODI series brilliantly and continued the form into the T20 series which India won 2-1. His good performances also earned him a promotion up the order to the number six.

His bowling will definitely come into display and India will certainly need a minimum of two overs from him to pack their batting order. He hasn’t been bowling due to injury concerns and this will be the right time for him to get back into his groove before the T20 WorldCup starts.

3. KL Rahul

KL Rahul has grown as a batsman in maturity and plays a crucial part in India’s top order. It will be interesting to see if he keeps or Rishabh Pant gets the glove work for the series. Rahul bagged the orange cap in the recently concluded IPL 2020 and has been in good form. He is in third place in the T20 international batsman rankings and a good run of form might push him to the top of the rankings.

KL Rahul has two international T20 centuries and has been a consistent performer for India in the last two years in the limited-overs format. His explosiveness at the top will be great for India’s success with Rohit at the other end and Virat Kohli to come at three. Rahul will be competing for a spot with the lefthander Dhawan who could be the one to miss out on the first T20.

2. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has had quite two years which we do not associate with him often as he has been the mainstay of the Indian batting for the last decade. Kohli’s last century in international cricket came against the Bangladesh side in the 2019 pink ball test and has missed out on a century for a long time now which is very poor according to his standards.

Despite the poor form, he still averages above 50 in all the formats which shows the amount of high calibre the Indian skipper has. He is a prolific run-scorer in T20 cricket and this will be a great opportunity for him to get back his rhythm before the T20 World Cup starts.

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma had a great home Test series against England and has been very consistent for the last three to four years. He has the record of most T20 international centuries with four centuries already and is most likely to be the top run-scorer for India in the T20 series too. He plays an important part in the Indian team as a vice-captain too.

Rohit’s calm and composure at the top along with his ability to up the anti suddenly is a much-needed boost for the Indian team. His super over knocks in the 2020 New Zealand T20 series was outstanding and proved his credentials. He is in prime form at the top of the order and India will depend a lot on him for their success.
