Indian captain Virat Kohli has leapfrogged his compatriot KL Rahul to become the No.4 ranked ICC T20I batsmen of the world.

The ICC, on Wednesday, released the latest T20I rankings following the completion of the recent five-match T20I series between India and England.

Virat Kohli has been rewarded for his stellar run in the five-match series.. The Indian captain kickstarted the rubber on a poor note as he was dismissed by leg-spinner Adil Rashid for a five-ball duck.

However, the champion batsman responded in stunning fashion as he racked three unbeaten 50+ scores in the next four games.

Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten 49-ball 73 in the second T20I and along with debutant Ishan Kishan, helped Team India to gun down the total of 164 in a canter. In the process, the Indian skipper also became the first batsman to rack up 3000 T20I runs.

Virat continued with his form in the following match where he put up yet another masterclass, an unbeaten 46-ball 77 to help India post a competitive total of 6/156.

Then in the series-decider, Kohli promoted himself to the top of the order and anchored the innings brilliantly to finish with an unbeaten 52-ball 80 as India racked up a mammoth 2-224.

Overall, Virat Kohli racked up 231 runs in five innings at an average of 115.50 with three 50+ scores.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who managed scores of 1,0,0,14 before being benched for the final match, has dropped to the 5th spot in the ICC T20I rankings for batsmen, a list which is still headed by England’s Dawid Malan despite a poor outing in the T20I rubber.

As far as bowling is concerned, England leg-spinner Adil Rashid has moved to to the 4th spot following a brilliant outing in the T20I series against India.

Rashid, who opened the innings for the first time in T20I cricket, may have claimed just four wickets in five matches but he offered a lot of control and chipped in crucial scalps for his team.
