Day 3 Weather Forecast: England vs India 1st Test at Headingley, Leeds
After India were bowled out, rain briefly halted play on Day 2 but resumed within 30–40 minutes, with the lost time made up later. A 65% chance of showers is expected, especially in the afternoon of the third day.
The day is likely to begin cloudy and breezy, but conditions should allow an on-time start. Notably, the rain threat is minimal between 11 AM and 4 PM. However, chances of showers increase around 4 PM (up to 60%), with heavier rain and possible thunderstorms expected later in the evening.
Humidity is set to hover around 60%, with winds reaching speeds of up to 24 km/h. Overcast skies could aid the Indian seamers by providing swing-friendly conditions, much like what England exploited on Day 2. Today's play could prove to be a pivotal phase in the match.
Jasprit Bumrah Shines with the Ball in Batting-Friendly Conditions
Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer with the ball for India on Day 2 of the first Test, excelling in challenging batting conditions. He made an early impact by dismissing Zak Crawley for just four runs in the opening over with a brilliant delivery.
Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett built a 122-run partnership for the second wicket, but Bumrah broke the stand by removing Duckett for 62. He struck again just before stumps, sending Joe Root back for 28, caught at slip by Karun Nair.
Bumrah bowled several no-balls late in the day, including one that briefly dismissed Harry Brook. England ended the day at 209 for 3, trailing India by 262 runs.

England pacers Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue picked up four wickets each, finishing with figures of 4/66 and 4/86, respectively.
