Saikia has expressed full confidence that the Men in Blue will repeat the history of the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph and win the third title for the country. His confidence sounded so strong that many fans jokingly said the final result has already been “announced” before the match.

The BCCI secretary was quoted as saying by ANI: “India will bring the trophy home. We need to win this. We want to repeat the performance of Barbados in Ahmedabad. I think we will win easily.”

India booked their place in the final after a thrilling win over England in the second semifinal at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a high-pressure night, and England gave them a tough fight, yet the defending champions held their nerve and made it to the final.

This victory left the entire country joyous, and Ajinkya Naik, president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), said the entire Mumbai cricket community felt proud after watching the thriller.

Ajinkya Naik stated: “It is a matter of happiness for everyone. India has won the semi-finals in Mumbai. We are all very happy. And all the fans of Mumbai cricket are happy that we have won the semi-finals against England at Wankhede Stadium.”

India vs England Semifinal Highlight

Speaking about the semifinal clash, India produced a thrilling show to knock out England and storm into the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. The defending champions posted a massive 253 after a stunning batting assault led by Sanju Samson, who blasted 89 off just 42 balls with seven sixes and eight fours.

Shivam Dube (43), Ishan Kishan (39), Hardik Pandya (27), and Tilak Varma (21) have also made valuable contributions with the bat against England. England fought back hard as Jacob Bethell smashed a stunning 105 from 48 balls, but India held their nerve.

Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliant efforts at the end of the match and remarkable fielding efforts left England falling seven runs short of the target.

After the victory at Wankhede Stadium, Captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “It's an unbelievable feeling. Obviously, playing in India, leading such a wonderful side, and with the World Cup happening here, going to Ahmedabad to play that final. I think it’s a special feeling for all the boys.”
