The Bangladesh national cricket team is set to play in a tri-series after the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will conclude with a final match on March 9. Notably, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Faruque Ahmed reportedly confirmed that India and Pakistan might play the series.
Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, are currently participating in the Champions Trophy. They started the tournament on a poor note with a 6-wicket loss to India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 20. Bangladesh will be knocked out of the tournament if they lose their second match.

However, there is no official confirmation by BCCI regarding the tri-series. India are unlikely to play because they will shift their focus to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which is set to begin on March 20 with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Earlier, cricket boards like the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA) showed interest in hosting India and Pakistan. However, India and Pakistan will face each other in the Asia Cup and ICC tournaments.
Bangladesh Taking on New Zealand in the Sixth Match of the Champions Trophy
Bangladesh are taking on New Zealand in the sixth match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Monday, February 24. This is the fourth Group A fixture of the tournament.
Bangladesh started their 2025 Champions Trophy campaign with a six-wicket defeat to India in Dubai. After electing to bat first, they were bundled out for 228 in 49.4 overs.
The team collapsed to 35-5 within the first nine overs. However, Towhid Hridoy's century (100) and Jaker Ali’s 68 helped them recover. Rishad Hossain took two wickets with the ball, but Bangladesh’s total proved insufficient to challenge India.
New Zealand on the Verge of Reaching Semi-Finals from Group A
New Zealand started their Champions Trophy campaign with a 60-run victory over hosts Pakistan in Karachi. They posted 320-5, with Will Young scoring 107 off 113 balls and Tom Latham remaining unbeaten on 118 off 104. Will O'Rourke and Mitchell Santner took three wickets each to bowl out Pakistan for 260.
India currently top the group with four points from two matches, while New Zealand are in second with two points from one game. A win for the Kiwis in their next match will take them to first place and secure their spot in the semifinals.
