“You can’t let that just dissipate and fade, You need to envelop and embrace it, I can tell you discussions are underway,” Simon O’Donnell said.

Former Australia all-rounder Simon O’Donnell has speculated that talks are probably already underway for India and Pakistan to play a Test match Down Under following the huge success of the T20 match between the fierce rivals India and Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23.
There have been 59 Test matches between India and Pakistan. Out of these 59 games, Pakistan has won 12 times compared to India’s 9 victories. There were 38 draws in games.
In the three-match test series that India and Pakistan played in 2007, India prevailed 1-0 at home.
When Pakistan toured India for a five-match Test series in 1952, the two teams first came together. The series was won 2-1 by the hosts. Since then, there have been several Test, ODI, and T20I encounters between the two nations.
However, throughout time, as a result of political tensions and numerous wars between the two countries, cricket deteriorated as both sides were instructed to cut all contact with each other in the sport.
India and Pakistan have faced off against each other 203 times at the international level to date, with Pakistan outperforming India in Tests and ODIs.
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series in a very long time due to hostility between the neighbors, and their matches are only played at major events hosted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
According to sen.com.au, Simon O’Donnell also mentioned a potential triangular ODI series between India, Pakistan, and Australia if “hopes of a Test match fall through.”
“That (their T20 World Cup clash) was extraordinary,” O’Donnell said on SEN Breakfast on Monday.
“That game itself is the one that’s held the tournament up so far, people keep referring back to it. There were 90,000 at a neutral venue, and there was extraordinary emotion, in the scenes of the game, the tightness of the game, the pressure. It was magnificent sort of stuff, to the level that I can say there will be discussions being had, or there are discussions being had to play a Test match here,” said Simon O’Donnell.
“There’s also the possibility of a triangular One-Day series between India, Pakistan, and Australia or a Test match between India and Pakistan. My word is there are conversations happening, in the wake of this T20 World Cup clash. There are already discussions taking place,” Simon O’Donnell added.
“You can’t let that just dissipate and fade, You need to envelop and embrace it, I can tell you discussions are underway,” Simon O’Donnell said.
O’Donnell has appeared in six Tests and 87 One-Day Internationals, mostly as a right-arm fast bowler.
