Aakash Chopra has criticized India’s miserable batting collapse on the 4th Day of India vs England 3rd Test at Headingley in Leeds. The former India cricketer Aakash Chopra said that Virat Kohli and boys were completely buried in the end, giving a real shock to Indian fans. After a miserable total of just 78 in the 1st innings, India came out with a much stronger performance at the start of their batting in the 2nd innings.

At the stumps of Day 3, India held themselves at 215-2 while trailing by 139 runs. While Indian fans and some cricket analysts expected that India can come up with a fabulous batting show in the 2nd innings, their hopes were totally destroyed. On Day 4, the team lost the remaining 8 wickets for just 63 runs, losing the match by an innings and 76 runs.

Forget Out Of The Woods; India Were Completely Buried In The End: Aakash Chopra

While talking about the match on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that Indian fans hoped for a fairy tale from Virat Kohli and boys but nothing like that happened.

“We had hopes because the Indian team had given us permission to dream a little, to fantasise and write a fairy tale. But nothing like that happened. We should have been ready for a reality shock.

“Nasser Hussain had said that this is Headingley and not Kolkata; the second new ball does a lot on the Headingley pitch, and you are not out of the woods. Forget out of the woods; we were completely buried in the end,” Aakash Chopra said.

The former Indian opener Aakash Chopra also that England demolished the castles built by India in just one session. He also pointed out that after Virat Kohli lost his wicket, other batsmen disappeared all of a sudden.

“We lost the remaining eight wickets in just one session. The second new ball demolished the castles in the air we had built. England have got the win; the series is standing at 1-1. We need to agree that after the high at Lord’s, we saw a slight shock at Leeds. Cheteshwar Pujara, it was an incoming delivery, he does a shoulder arm, the umpire gives not out, but was subsequently given out as the ball was hitting the stumps. After that Kohli got out, and then the palace we had built with a pack of cards disappeared all of a sudden,” Aakash Chopra further said.
