Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev has a piece of valuable advice for the Indian team ahead of their semi-final against England in Guyana. Team India are set to lock horns with the defending champions of the T20 World Cup on Thursday.

The Indian team has been on an unbeaten run so far in the tournament. They have eliminated teams like Pakistan and Australia in the process. Now they have a stiff test against England. Speaking to PTI, Kapil Dev has urged the Indian team to play as a team and not bank on any individual to win the game.

“Why talking about only Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, or Kuldeep Yadav... everybody has a role to play. Their job is to win the tournament. To win a match, an odd person can come out, but to win a tournament everybody has to work together. If we are going to depend on Bumrah or Arshdeep, then you are going to lose it,” Kapil Dev told PTI in an exclusive chat on Thursday.

He further said that the team as a whole needs to be given importance and all the players must step up and contribute if India are to win the T20 World Cup.

“All the XI players have to contribute. It’s a part & parcel of the game. Let's talk about team. That gives you a better perspective rather than odd player. Yes main player is there and we can go around him. But everybody has to chip in win the World Cup,” he added.

He further took the example of India's 1983 World Cup-winning side to prove his point saying “Roger Binny, Mohinder Amarnath, Kirti Azad, Yashpal Sharma all came out with match-winning performances. If you start depending on one player it means you are not going to win tournaments more often".

Kapil Dev Wishes Good Luck To Team India For T20 World Cup Semi-Final

He further extended his best wishes to the Indian team and hoped that India would beat England and make their way to the final to play South Africa in the summit clash.

“All the Best, good luck, I hope the Indian players, the way they are playing they keep on playing like that, they should not have a bad day and they can be out of tournament what happened last time in 50 overs World Cup. They are playing well, they are enjoying. Hats off to them. Good luck to them. My prayer. All the people in the country they simply think the way I think. No different. I wish them all the luck and happiness,” the former Indian captain concluded saying.

Meanwhile, there is a forecast of rain to play spoilsport in the final. The toss has been delayed due to a wet outfield and consistent rain. There is no reserve day for the second semi-final between India and England. In case the match ends in a washout, India will qualify for the final as they topped their Group in the Super 8s. England, on the other hand, lost to South Africa and lost games in the group stage as well.
