Former India spinner Erapalli Prasanna has backed Team India to win the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

India have been the most dominant team in the competition so far. It would not be an exaggeration to say that they have effortlessly toyed with their oppositions, winning all nine league games with ease. They are the only unbeaten side in the competition.

The Men in Blue began their campaign with a 6-wicket win over five-time world champions Australia before thrashing Afghanistan by 8 wickets. It was followed by victories over Pakistan and Bangladesh by a similar margin of 7 wickets. In their fifth game, they defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to remain the only unbeaten side in the World Cup.

In their next three games, India bowled out England, Sri Lanka, and South Africa for 129, 55, and 83 runs respectively to continue their dominant run. In their final league game, the Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed the Netherlands by 160 runs after posting 410 runs to make it 9 wins from 9.

Erapalli Prasanna on India’s chances:

Team India have looked unstoppable in the World Cup so far and Erapalli Prasanna believes that the home side will go on to win the tournament unless something unexpected happens. He also stated that if India fail this time, they would never win the World Cup. Speaking to RevSportz, the legendary spinner said:

“If they can’t win the World Cup now, I don’t think they will ever win it. This is the best side with the best combination of batting and bowling. I think India is at its very best. There’s only one factor in cricket, and that is the law of averages. Unless that strikes, India, whether they bat first or bowl first, should win this World Cup.”

High-flying Team India will lock horns against New Zealand in the first semifinal on Wednesday (November 15). They match is scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the second semifinal, South Africa and Australia will lock horns against each other at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday (November 16).
