India Women Cricket Team in World Cup

The India women cricket team is one of the strongest teams in the world at present. They represents India in women's international cricket and is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The team is also called 'Women in Blue'.
A full member of the ICC, India women's team has the Test, ODI and T20I status. Harmanpreet Kaur is the current captain of the team in all the formats. While India have not won the World Cup in any format so far, they have done well in other multi-nation event.
They have won the ODI Asia Cup 4 times in 2004, 2005-06, 2006, 2008. The team has also won the T20 Asia Cup three times in 2012, 2016 and 2022. In 2022, the Indian team also won the Gold Medal at the Asian Games and Silver Medal at the Commonwealth Games.
India Women Cricket Team in World Cup: Journey so far
India Women Cricket Team journey in the ODI World Cup began in 1978. They did not participate in the first edition in 1973 before playing in the second edition. India crashed out at the group stage in 1978 as well as 1982 and did not participate in 1988.
In the 1993 edition, India made a group stage exit once again before finally progressing to the semifinal in 1997 when they played the tournament on home soil. India made it to the semifinal in 2000 also.
In 2005, India Women Cricket Team qualified for the final of the World Cup for the first time but ended up losing the title-decider. Their campaign ended at the Super 6s stage in 2009 before they crashed out at the group stage in 2013. Four years later, India qualified for the final once again but lost the match against England. In 2022, India made a group stage exit.

T20 World Cup History:
India Women Cricket Team have participated in each edition of the T20 World Cup so far. Their best performance in the competition is finishing runners-up once.
In the first two editions of the T20 World Cup played in 2009 and 2010, India's campaign ended at the semifinal stage. The Women in Blue failed to progress ahead of the group stage in 2012, 2014, and 2016. In 2018, they made it to the semifinal.
In 2020, India finally qualified for the final for the first time but lost the title-decider against Australia. India's campaign ended at the semifinal and group stage respectively in 2023 and 2024.
