The visitors South Africa Women have secured the ODI series against the hosts India Women after winning the fourth game of this series by seven wickets. With this victory, the visitors are leading this five-match Women’s ODI series by the 3-1 margin with one to go.

After losing the toss, India Women scored 266/4 (50 overs) in the first innings. However, South Africa Women chased down that target in 48.4 overs after losing only three wickets.

2nd innings (South Africa Women): Four 50+ scores helped the visitors to claim the victory

Openers Lizelle Lee and stand-in captain Laura Wolvaardt put a century partnership in that challenging chase which stretched to 116 runs partnership. Both scored half-centuries in that innings. While Lee scored 69 runs off 75 balls (10 fours), Wolvaardt scored 53 off 78 balls (6 fours).

Then Lara Goodall and Mignon du Preez controlled the innings with another century partnership as their wicket partnership ran for 103 runs. Both scored the fifties in that innings. While Preez scored 61 off 55 balls (8 fours and only six), Goodall was not out on 59 off 66 balls (5 fours) in that successful chasing. Coming to bat at the late but crucial moment, Marizanne Kapp put the important contribution of 22 not out off just 18 balls (3 fours).

Among the Indian bowlers, Harmanpreet Kaur (1/38), Rajeshwari Gayakwad (1/39) and Mansi Joshi (1/43) all took one wicket each in that innings.

1st innings (India Women): Punam Raut scored a century, Harmanpreet Kaur scored a quick-fire fifty and Mithali Raj completed her 7000 ODI runs

Shabnim Ismail provided a good start for the day as she dismissed the opener Smriti Mandhana for 10 runs in the fifth over of the match. It was Ismail’s 150th ODI wicket. Playing her first game in this series, opener Priya Punia scored 32 runs before she became Nondumiso Shangase’s only victim in this game.

Then Punam Raut and captain Mithali Raj controlled that innings and set up the century partnership for the third wicket. They built up the 103 runs partnership for that third wicket, where Mithali Raj completed her 7000 ODI runs and became the very first cricketer to score 7000 runs in Women’s ODI.

In the 38th over, Raj was dismissed by Tumi Sekhukhune for 45 runs. Meanwhile, Punam Raut continued her brilliant batting after completing her half-century, which was her third consecutive ODI 50+ score.

In the next 10 overs, Punam and Harmanpreet Kaur put the 88 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. Harmanpreet scored 54 runs off just 35 balls (7 fours and only six) before she lost her wicket in 48th over. In the next over, Punam completed her century in 119 balls. She remained not out on 104 off 123 balls with the help of 10 fours.

Tumi Sekhukhune was the only bowler for South Africa Women who took more than one wicket in that innings as she got two wickets (2/63).
