India women’s tour of Australia 2021 might be affected and there can be changes in the venues of the games. The Indian team is set to face Australia in a multi-format series that consists of three ODI matches, three T20I matches, and a One-off Test game. The series will start with the 1st ODI in Sydney and then move to Melbourne and Perth.

A total of 7 games are set to be played between Australia and India that comprise 3 ODIs, 3 Tests, and 1 historic Day-Night Test.

However, the current lockdown restrictions in Australia might force Cricket Australia to change the venues of the matches. Australia is currently observing state border closures and lockdowns due to the covid-19 pandemic.

India Women’s Tour Of Australia 2021 Might Be Altered

A report by Cricket.co.au mentioned that State border closures in Australia and lockdown restrictions in Sydney and Melbourne can affect India women’s tour of Australia. The report also stated that Cricket Australia is currently speaking with Australian authorities over the matter.

“But the ongoing COVID-19 lockdowns in Sydney and Melbourne as well as state border closures make that unlikely. Cricket Australia is currently speaking with government authorities about how, where and when the seven games can be played….an announcement expected shortly regarding changes to the seven-match schedule,” the report said.

One week ago, Cricket Australia had mentioned that they are keeping a tab on situations inside the country and will take a decision of rescheduling matches if it is is required.

“Due to the current COVID challenges, Cricket Australia will continue to monitor the situation right across the country and will consider whether or not it needs to make any decisions regarding rescheduling or moving matches in due course,” Cricket Australia had said.
