Rishabh Pant has a style that none of us will understand: KL Rahul

The two played very different styles, but together, they completely changed the game and put England under pressure. After the day’s play, Rahul heaped praise on Pant and said he couldn’t believe some of the shots the wicketkeeper-batter played.

From unexpected scoops to big sixes, Pant played in a way only he could, and Rahul said that he could only watch and enjoy it from the other end.

Pant's unique style grabbed everyone’s attention, but the Indian batter has made it clear that there’s no need to try and understand him; just let him play his way and enjoy the show.

KL Rahul said at the press conference after Day 4: “You just stand there and admire, and sometimes scratch your head about the shots that he plays. He has his unique style of play. He enjoys his game. He has a style that none of us will understand in this room. Just let him be Rishabh Pant.”

Just stay silent: KL Rahul on his chat with Rishabh Pant when he was attacking England bowlers

On being asked about his chat with Pant when he plays outrageous shots, Rahul stressed that he has the only option to just stay quiet. The right-handed batter said that it is tough to understand what is going on in Pant’s mind, but the best thing is to let him be and keep him calm.

Rahul added, “Just stay silent. I've had a few partnerships with him; it's hard for us to understand his mindset, but you have to let him be. You have to chat with him and keep him relaxed.”

KL Rahul predicts blockbuster Day 5 as England chase 350 at Headingley

With England needing 350 runs in 90 overs to win the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy opener against India, Rahul hinted at an exciting finish on Day 5 at Headingley. The Indian batter said that there are cracks, uneven bounce, and a slower pace in the pitch.

With rough patches for the Indian leg-spinner Jadeja to exploit, Rahul believes that the final day could bring plenty of twists and a thrilling end to the five-match Test series opener between India and England at Headingley. Zak Crawley (12*) and Ben Duckett (9*) will resume the Day 5.

He signed off by saying, “Blockbuster finish waiting tomorrow. When the test started, I felt it was a beautiful batting wicket and it would go towards a draw. But the wicket's played tricks and has had wear and tear."

"Cracks should open up tomorrow; Jadeja will have a rough time. There's been up-and-down movement; pace has gotten slower generally. A few balls have been kicked up."
