Iconic cricketing figure Brian Lara has made a prophecy about the Indian team going 100-0 against Bangladesh, thanks to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Both of them will be in action later tonight for India's 2nd Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Trinidad. A lot of eyes, including Brian Lara's, will be on none other than Virat Kohli, who is operating as a full-time opener in a World Cup for the very first time.

IPL 2024's Kohli still missing

Virat Kohli arrived in the World Cup as the leading run-scorer of IPL 2024, winning the Orange Cap for scoring 741 runs from 15 matches. This was his second-best run-scoring season in the Premier League with his best one coming in 2016 when he amassed over 900 runs in the league.

But what was special about this season was his strike rate and how he was able to fight back criticism and feed off it. Virat Kohli batted at his best-ever strike rate of 154.70 and also became a major reason behind RCB's late charge in the IPL. His performance, of course, intrigues every Indian fan but he hasn't replicated that in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Virat Kohli only has the game against Bangladesh to prepare for the Australian challenge in the closing Super 8 match. His bat has put out just 29 runs as of now and for a fact it doesn't suit a batter who has been the highest run-scorer twice. Not only that, he is also the only cricketer to win the ICC T20 WC player of the tournament, twice.

The 35-year-old will be in action in just a few hours' time and ahead of the clash, Brian Lara backed Kohli, along with Rohit, to do something special.

Brian Lara makes bold prediction about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

While speaking to Star Sports yesterday, Brian Lara predicted that India will be 100 without a loss if they bat first on the Trinidad surface. But Lara then made another prophecy that regardless of when India bats - 1st or 2nd, the scoreboard will be dominantly towards the 2007 Champions.

"India is going to be 100 without loss in that match if they bat first, right? And even if they bat second, they are going to be 100 without loss," Lara told Star Sports.

Bangladesh to not pose a threat

Speaking ahead, Brian Lara mentioned that Mustafizur Rahman is the one to cause some problems but believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma can sustain the pressure.

Brian Lara also claimed that the Indian batting line-up, which has its own problems, can find a way out in this game against the Bangla Tigers.

"Of course, Fizz is an amazing bowler. He is going to come out and threaten but I just feel that India is just too much and that roller coaster and, you know, they just seem rolling every team at the moment and that's how I think it's going to happen. India is very concerned about the opening partnership, and they're going to fix that against Bangladesh. I don't think that Bangladesh is going to be a threat," Brian Lara concluded.
