Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja lavished high praises for the current Indian team, which has become a world-beating side under its charismatic leader Virat Kohli.

Ramiz Raja reckons there is a “controlled madness” in the Asian giants as the skipper leads from the front in his aggressive style. He says that India is dominating world cricket, especially in Tests, akin to that of the Pakistan team under legendary captain and all-rounder Imran Khan.

The 58-year-old cricketer-turned-commentator also eulogizes on the improvements India has made in their performances outside Asia – India became the first team to register a Test series triumph in 2018/19; they did it again on their previous tour with a depleted side, which is what Ramiz Raja and the entire world will always marvel over.

“India has built a fantastic team. There is controlled madness in Virat Kohli’s captaincy. The game plan is based on aggression. When you do that, you become extremely free and the negativity goes out of your system,” Ramiz Raja told India News.

“India is doing what we used to do under Imran Khan. I feel happy that the two, three boxes India did not use to tick, for a long time now, for the last 10 years or so, they are ticking that. Because of that they have become a famous team around the world and win matches everywhere.

“You don’t become special until you go abroad and win Test matches. We have seen India giving splendid performances, almost with a B-team in Australia. So because of that, the expectations are high. The sub-continent will favour and back them,” he stated.

New Zealand they have an advantage in the WTC final – Ramiz Raja

Speaking about the forthcoming WTC final between India and New Zealand, starting June 18th in Southampton, Ramiz Raja believes that Kane Williamson’s side has an advantage over India as they will be better acclimatized to the English conditions, and will be in momentum, than India after their 2-match Test series with the hosts, commencing June 2nd.

However, he also stated that Virat Kohli’s side will give their best in the marquee clash, and that the Indian team is overall more talented than the Kiwis.

“New Zealand have gone there early, so they have an advantage but I feel it is a huge thing at stake and India will put utmost effort. They are overall a more talented team than New Zealand,” opined the former batsman.
