Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar reserved huge praise for Indian captain Rohit Sharma for his aggressive mindset during the second Test against Bangladesh. Sanjay Manjrekar highlighted how Rohit Sharma will leave a legacy as captain of Indian cricket with his leadership and aggressive mindset.

The second and third days of the Kanpur Test between India and Bangladesh were called off without a ball being bowled at Green Park. Fans got the opportunity to witness live action on Monday, September 30. Rohit Sharma remained determined to push for an outcome despite losing playing time.

Bangladesh resumed their innings at 107/3 and were bowled out for 233 in the post-lunch session. Jasprit Bumrah led the attack with 3-50, while Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets each. In response, the hosts declared their innings at 285/9 in just 34.4 overs.

Rohit (23 off 11) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (72 off 51) gave India a flying start with a 55-run partnership in just 3.5 overs. KL Rahul added a quickfire 68 off 43 balls, while Virat Kohli scored 47 off 35. The Indian team broke the fastest milestones for 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 runs in Test cricket.

This Is How He Thinks - Sanjay Manjrekar

Speaking on discussion on ESPNcricinfo, Sanjay Manjrekar praised Rohit for instilling a winning mentality in the Indian team. Manjrekar pointed out that Rohit demonstrated this approach during the 50-over World Cup last year, where India finished as runner-up.

"This is the legacy that Rohit Sharma will leave behind as captain. This is how he thinks," Manjrekar said.

"A strong team, which is one of the top two sides in the world, they also showed the champion's approach, realizing so much time has been lost. And he leads by example, exactly how he did in the 50-overs World Cup. So, this is what Rohit Sharma will leave behind as his contribution to Indian cricket," he added.

Have To Applaud Rohit Sharma For That - Sanjay Manjrekar

The 59-year-old said that Rohit plays for the team's success rather than personal milestones. Manjrekar highlighted Rohit's willingness to take risks for the team's benefit. He stated that everyone should applaud the opening batter for his approach.

"You do something only for the team and play to win. He does not mind in the process, like in the 50-overs World Cup... He didn't get a big hundred on anything like that. Even here, was quite happy to put his wicket on the line and suddenly we have a Test match which India could win. You have to applaud Rohit Sharma for that," the former India batter went on to add.

Indian bowlers put pressure on the visitors with a handful of overs left. Ravichandran Ashwin showcased his spin bowling skills by dismissing both Zakir Hasan and Hasan Mahmud. With Bangladesh trailing by 26 runs and still having eight wickets in hand, India aims to bowl them out quickly on Day 5.
